Bonsai

關於這種疾病

Borers are larvae of longhorn beetles that tunnel inside trunks and thick branches, making them difficult to detect from outside. By the time they are noticed, damage to the tree can be substantial. They affect many bonsai species including pine, cherry, and maple.

主要症狀

  • Frass (sawdust-like or wood-chip-like excrement) accumulates at the trunk base or branch joints
  • Circular entry holes several millimeters in diameter are visible on the trunk
  • Sections of foliage suddenly wilt and die back
  • Tunnels from larval feeding are present inside the trunk

主要原因

  • Egg-laying by adult longhorn beetles, primarily in early to midsummer
  • Oviposition in damaged bark or cut surfaces from pruning
  • Concentrated infestation on trees with reduced vigor or older, weakened specimens
  • Proximity to other host plants of longhorn beetles in the surrounding area

預防(栽培環境與日常管理)

Inspect trunks and branches regularly for frass or entry holes to ensure early detection. Treat pruning cuts appropriately to prevent decay that can attract egg-laying adults. Maintain tree vigor through consistent watering, balanced fertilization, and proper formative pruning.
