蕾蝶蘭（Miltoniopsis）原生於哥斯達黎加、巴拿馬、委內瑞拉、哥倫比亞、厄瓜多爾和秘魯的安第斯山脈標高1,000〜2,000米高地雲霧林中，共5種蘭花。如英文名「三色堇蘭」所示，其特徵是花瓣寬大平展，酷似三色堇。花徑6〜12公分，花色豐富，包括白、粉紅、紅、紫及複色等多種，花心有獨特的「水印」圖案。散發玫瑰般的甘甜香氣。花期主要在春至初夏（3〜6月），每花莖開3〜5朵花。管理的最重要關鍵是溫度。因其高地特性，夏季畏高溫，需要18〜23℃的涼爽環境。置於明亮的半遮蔭處，保持高濕度（60〜80%）。用水苔及細樹皮種植，避免過度潮濕，同時不可過度乾燥。日本栽培中夏季溫度管理是最大的挑戰。
