Pinguicula Esseriana key facts

Growing Difficulty
Beginner-friendly
Lifespan
5+ years
Size
3-8cm
Watering
Insects (auto-capture)
Light & Placement
Bright indirect light to weak direct sun suits it. At 3-8 cm it fits even a small windowsill.
Watering
Water from above with pure or rain water when the medium dries. Overwatering is fatal; never leave the pot standing in water.
Soil & Repotting
Use a sandy, mineral-based, slightly acidic to neutral medium with good drainage. A small, shallow pot is easiest to manage.
Temperature & Overwintering
Grows at 15-25°C. From autumn to winter it forms a tight succulent rosette; reduce watering and keep it on the dry side then.
Propagation
Sturdy and easy from leaf cuttings. Detach leaves from the dormant rosette and set them on moist medium to produce plantlets.
