日本扁柏

日本的代表針葉樹。扇形展開的鱗片葉和紅褐色樹皮優美。作為神社寺廟的建材也很著名，具有清爽的香氣特徵。盆栽中可從小品到中品盡享其美。

日本扁柏是扁柏科扁柏屬的常綠針葉樹，以日本中部地方為中心在日本廣泛自生的日本固有種。在日本建築·工藝中被稱為「木材之王」，法隆寺等古代社寺建築中也多有使用的歷史。香氣宜人的黃白色木材耐久性優異，至今仍作為高級建材備受珍視。葉片呈鱗片狀且具有光澤，枝條背面可見白色Y字形的氣孔線。樹皮為紅褐色並沿縱向剝落。在盆栽中，常使用「日本扁柏的矮性品種（八房性）」，葉片特別密集且生長緩慢的品種被認為適合盆栽。常綠樹全年保持優美的綠色，亦可享受含有精油的日本扁柏特有的香氣。管理的理想環境為日照充足且通風良好的戶外。澆水時當表面土壤乾燥時應充分澆灌，避免過濕。通過修剪·摘芽使枝條緻密整齊。換盆間隔為3～5年一次，春季為適期。
