關於這種疾病
Soft rot is a condition in which the stem or caudex of a plant becomes water-soaked and decays due to bacterial infection (such as Erwinia spp.). It can progress rapidly from wounds or high-humidity conditions, making early response essential.
主要症狀
- Part of the stem or caudex becomes water-soaked and soft
- The affected area turns brown to black and emits an unpleasant odor
- Symptoms spread rapidly to surrounding tissue within a few days
- Tissue around the affected area collapses and becomes sunken as it breaks down
主要原因
- Bacterial entry through wounds from pruning, pests, or physical injury
- Overwatering during hot, humid periods (rainy season and summer)
- Persistent humid, poorly ventilated growing conditions
- Long-term cultivation in poorly draining soil keeping the root zone constantly wet
預防(栽培環境與日常管理)
Allow cut surfaces from pruning or physical wounds to dry out promptly and avoid exposing them to humidity. During hot, humid periods, improve ventilation and reduce watering frequency. Regularly inspect the plant, paying close attention to the stem and caudex for any early signs of softening or discoloration.

Consulting a specialty nursery or experienced caudex grower for assessment and guidance is the most helpful approach when soft rot is suspected. Documenting the affected area with photographs and sharing them with a specialist can help obtain specific, practical advice on managing the condition.
