卡特蘭（Cattleya）是蘭科的代表性屬，分布於哥斯達黎加至阿根廷的中南美熱帶和亞熱帶地區。著生於熱帶雨林的樹木上，具有粗壯的假鱗莖，每個假鱗莖上有1～2片革質葉片。花朵特別碩大華麗，花徑達10～20cm的個體並不罕見。花色多樣，有白色、粉色、紫色、黃色、橙色和複合色等。脣瓣的荷葉邊裝飾美麗突出，許多種類具有濃郁的香氣。管理需要明亮的間接光線，直射日光會導致葉片灼傷。應確保最低溫度15℃以上，用樹皮、輕石等基質排水良好地種植。在生育期（春至秋）充分供水和肥料，當假鱗莖充實後才會出現花芽。與麗蘭、樹蘭等近緣屬的屬間雜交十分普遍，市場上流通著無數的交配品種。因其華麗且芳香豐富的花朵，被稱為「洋蘭女王」。
