  High

  Serration and leaf color traits differ by lineage, with popular lineages commanding higher prices. Note that lineage name explains origin but is not a quality guarantee.

• Serration protrusion

  High

  Serrations that protrude prominently left and right from the leaf margin are considered to have higher ornamental value.

• Size and leaf count

  Medium

  Full, well-developed plants with many leaves require more years of cultivation, resulting in higher evaluation.

• Root development status

  Medium

  Rooted plants have lower establishment risk and result in more stable transactions compared to unrooted specimens.

Appraisal points

Serration thickness and projection

Good:

They extend three-dimensionally from the leaf margin and are evenly matched on both sides.

Caution:

When serrations are thin, short, or developed on only one side, determine whether this reflects genetic variation or cultivation differences.

Overall compactness

Good:

The rosette is low and tightly arranged.

Caution:

Specimens with upright, spaced-out leaves exhibit etiolation.

Root development condition

Good:

Multiple white new roots with a stable plant base.

Caution:

Uprooted specimens or those with fresh-cut surfaces require a waiting period before establishment.
