Stanhopea key facts
- Growing Difficulty
- Intermediate
- Lifespan
- 10+ years
- Size
- 20-40cm
- Temperature
- 20〜30℃
- Light & Placement
- Hang it where it gets bright indirect light. The flower spikes grow downward, so leave open space below the basket.
- Watering
- Water generously during the growing season. In winter, reduce water and let it rest, giving just enough to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling.
- Temperature & Overwintering
- The ideal range is 20-30°C. Move it somewhere that stays warm during cold periods so it does not drop below this range.
- Soil & Repotting
- Because the spikes emerge through the bottom of the container, always use a basket or hanging pot, and do not block the base.
- Fertilizer
- Fertilize during the growing season. Stop feeding while it rests with reduced water in winter, and resume once new growth starts.
- Dormancy Care
- Reduce water in winter and let it go dormant. It survives on water stored in its large pseudobulbs, so water just enough to keep them from shriveling.
