日本野茉莉是野茉莉科野茉莉屬的落葉喬木，分佈於日本及東亞。5～6月，在葉片下方盛開白色五瓣鐘形花朵，垂掛成串。花謝後結出橢圓形果實，果皮含刺激性皂苷，古代用作魚毒進行捕魚，日文名稱「エゴ」源於該植物的苦澀特性。初夏盛花時期，枝條被白花覆蓋，景象優美非常，具有自然野趣。作為盆栽，其葉下垂掛白花的優雅姿態尤受讚賞，纖細枝條與小葉片的完美比例營造出精妙樹形。多幹叢生造型特別受歡迎，多個樹幹從基部向四方展開，呈現自然優雅的樹勢。盆栽養護方面，喜好向陽至半蔭的環境，夏季需避免強烈直射日光以免造成葉片灼傷。澆水應保持濕潤，土壤表層乾燥後應立即補水。修剪宜在花謝後進行，以調整和維持樹形。植株每隔2～3年需進行一次換盆，最佳時期為春季萌芽前。
