墨西哥薯蕷是原生於墨西哥至中央美洲熱帶與亞熱帶地區的薯蕷科塊根植物。雖然也被稱為「墨西哥龜背竜」，但與非洲龜背竜（D. elephantipes）相比，塊根表面相對光滑，形狀更圓潤。生育期為夏型，季節與非洲種相反。夏季生長蔓性莖，長出心形至三裂葉。冬季落葉休眠。生長速度略快，塊根肥大進展相對順利。因為是夏型，管理期在春至秋的生育期間以直射光至明亮半陰處養護，澆水充足。冬季休眠期應斷水或極少澆水。耐寒性比 D. elephantipes 傾向較低，宜保持在10℃以上。雖然沒有龜背竜那般幾何學的塊根紋路，但因為塊根圓潤可愛，加上夏型管理相對簡單，因此頗受歡迎。
