象牙樹德卡利原生於馬達加斯加南部的乾旱林，屬漆樹科塊根植物。其最大特色是美麗的樹形，受到盆栽愛好者的廣泛關注。粗幹上細密分枝，密生小複葉，其姿態恰似盆栽。根系粗壯發達，採用露根「根上漲」造型時尤為優美。花朵細小不甚顯眼，但葉片會呈現如楓葉般的色彩變化，別有趣味。生長速度相對較慢。養護方面喜好直射日光，適合通透性良好、超強排水的介質。生長期澆水充足，落葉後的冬季宜近似斷水狀態管理。耐寒性尚可，但日本冬季宜室內養護為安全考量。相比帕基普斯，本種較易取得且價格稍低，作為象牙樹屬入門品種頗受歡迎。小葉與粗幹的比例恰到好處，深受追求盆栽般美感的收藏家青睞。
