紫竹梅（Tradescantia spp.）原產於南加拿大至阿根廷北部的廣大範圍，屬鴨跖草科的多年生植物，約有85種被認可。英文俗名『Wandering Jew』及『Inch Plant』廣為人知。葉色隨品種而異，呈現綠色、紫色、白斑和粉紅色。生長極其迅速，蔓莖伸長後最適合吊掛或垂直展示。可透過扦插輕易繁殖，適合與朋友分享植株。從明亮的間接光到半陰環境均能適應，但斑紋品種更偏好明亮的環境。澆水應在土壤乾燥後進行，過度濕度會導致莖部腐爛。因其強健且生長旺盛，定期修剪回株是維持株形的管理要訣。色彩繽紛的葉色為室內裝飾帶來輕盈的色調，是受歡迎的觀葉植物。
