Dendrobium Speciosum key facts

Growing Difficulty
Intermediate
Lifespan
10+ years
Size
30-80cm
Light & Placement
It likes strong light and tolerates direct sun. Grow it in a sunny outdoor spot to build its sturdy pseudobulbs.
Watering
Water moderately in the growing season (spring to autumn). It tolerates drought, so water once the medium has dried.
Temperature & Overwintering
It is very tough and hardy to around 5°C. In winter, keep it somewhere frost-free and on the dry side.
Soil & Repotting
Pot in bark, gravel or pumice for good drainage. It flowers more spectacularly as it gets larger, so use a big pot.
Fertilizer
Feed during the growing season (spring to autumn) to build the thick pseudobulbs. Stop feeding during winter dormancy.
Dormancy Care
A dry winter rest encourages flower bud formation. Withhold water and return to normal care when growth resumes in spring.
