象牙宮是原生於馬達加斯加中央高地海拔1000〜2000m岩層上的小型帕琪波迪烏姆。以「惠比壽笑」的日本名聞名，扁平盤狀展開的獨特塊根形態是其最大特徵。自生地相比其他象牙宮更涼爽且霧氣充足的高地，其扁平形狀據信是適應進化的結果。直徑比高度更寬，成熟株的直徑可達30cm以上。春季綻放大量鮮豔的黃色花朵，其姿態喚起「笑臉」的聯想，因此得名。生長速度非常緩慢，是入手困難的稀有種。養護需直射陽光為必須，對高溫高濕有弱點傾向。基質需超強排水性，澆水要極其控制，特別注意夏季悶熱。冬季斷水，保持10℃以上。因其可愛的姿態和稀有性，是多肉植物收藏家最受歡迎的品種之一。
