- Spots enlarge into lesions with indistinct borders
- A yellow halo may appear around lesions
- Multiple lesions may merge, causing the leaf to die back

- Hot and humid growing conditions
- Leaves remaining wet from direct watering or rain
- Fungal spores spreading via water droplets or wind
- Poor ventilation leading to stagnant humid air
