Cold Damage / Frost Injury
🔎 依症狀查找
關於這種疾病
Damage caused by freezing temperatures or frost that ruptures cell membranes in agave tissue, potentially causing leaves or the entire plant to soften and turn dark. Cold hardiness varies significantly by variety.
主要症狀
- Leaves may soften and become water-soaked in appearance
- Leaves turn dark brown or black
- Leaves may collapse after thawing
- The growing point at the center of the plant may be destroyed
主要原因
- Direct exposure to frost or sub-zero temperatures
- Rapid temperature drop immediately after watering when cells are saturated
- Leaving frost-tender varieties outdoors during winter
- Unexpected cold snaps or late frosts
預防(栽培環境與日常管理)
Check the cold hardiness of each variety before winter and move frost-tender varieties indoors or into a greenhouse before the first frost. Minimize watering in winter to keep the soil dry, which reduces the risk of freeze damage.
