日本落叶松（唐松）是松科落叶松属的落叶针叶树，作为日本固有种分布在中部·关东地方的山岳地带（主要集中在八岳·浅间山·富士山周边）。具有"会落叶的针叶树"这种罕见特性，春季呈现淡绿色新芽、夏季鲜艳的绿色、秋季金黄色叶色（黄叶）和冬季的四季分明变化。叶片为束状短针叶，相对枝条柔软展开。秋季闪耀金黄色的日本落叶松林被誉为日本阿尔卑斯地区的绝景。在盆景中，落叶针叶树的稀有性、四季变化和成熟个体粗糙的树皮等都备受推崇。细密分散的枝梢纤细美感与雄伟树干形成对比，是其魅力所在。管理上，冷凉、日照充足的室外环境最为理想，需注意夏季高温多湿。浇水相对较多。新芽娇嫩易伤，需注意春季强风。换盆间隔为3～5年，芽出前的春季为最佳时期。
