Thorn-Crested Agave key facts

Growing Difficulty
Beginner-friendly
Lifespan
Perennial (15-25 years)
Size
40-80cm
Watering
Minimal
Light & Placement
It loves direct sun and is best grown outdoors. Tough enough for garden beds and large pots, it is a good beginner's agave.
Watering
Water after the soil dries and watch for excess moisture. Keeping it on the dry side gives a neater rosette.
Temperature & Overwintering
Fairly cold hardy, it can overwinter outdoors in a suitable spot. In cold regions move it somewhere sheltered from frost for winter.
Soil & Repotting
Use a mix that puts drainage first. It grows a little faster than most agaves and reaches 60-80 cm across, so pot up as it grows.
Notes
Sharp serrated spines, handle carefully
