About
Bucephalandra sp. 'Kedagang' is an aroid from Borneo sold under a trade name thought to derive from a locality. It is also written 'Kudakan', possibly referring to Kudangan in Indonesian Kalimantan, though this is unclear. Its species identity is treated differently by different sources, so it is usually listed as an undetermined species (sp.). The leaves identify it: about 4–6 cm long and 0.8–2 cm wide, shortly stalked and arching, with a strongly wavy margin and a blunt tip bearing a tiny point. The upper side is dark brown to deep green with a bluish tinge and covered in fine silvery dots; the underside is silvery white to pale violet. Rhizomes and young petioles are wine red, and the plant branches into a many-headed clump. It rarely flowers in aquaria. Compared with other Buce it grows fairly well and looks best under medium to high light with good CO2 and nutrients. In Japan tissue-culture and potted plants are sold, alongside derived names such as 'Kedagang Red' and 'Mini Round'.
