About

Hoya kerrii, the sweetheart hoya or lucky heart plant, is a vining succulent perennial in the family Apocynaceae, native to Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, and southern China. Its distinctive thick, heart-shaped leaves have made it a popular Valentine's Day gift, often sold as a single leaf cutting in a small pot. However, a single-leaf cutting without a node will not develop into a full vining plant — it will remain as a solitary leaf indefinitely. Full plants with stems grow 1–4 m as mature vines, producing clusters of small, star-shaped, waxy flowers with a pleasant fragrance in spring and summer. As a semi-succulent, it prefers to dry out completely between waterings and is susceptible to rot if overwatered. Bright indirect light suits it well. Maintain temperatures above 15°C. The heart-shaped leaves make it a charming and meaningful gift plant.
