Spider Agave key facts

Growing Difficulty
Beginner-friendly
Lifespan
Perennial (20-30 years)
Size
30-60cm
Watering
Minimal
Light & Placement
It tolerates direct sun to bright partial shade and handles some shade. Being spineless, it can be placed anywhere, even in homes with children or pets.
Watering
It tolerates slightly more water than other agaves; watering once the soil dries is enough.
Temperature & Overwintering
Cold tolerance is fairly high, reportedly down to about -10°C, so it can overwinter outdoors in much of Japan.
Soil & Repotting
As it grows on limestone cliffs, a fast-draining mix is essential. Growth is slow, so repotting is rarely needed.
Propagation
It produces many offsets, so it can be propagated by division. Separate offsets once they have grown a bit for easier rooting.
