About

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' is a miniature cultivar of Anubias nana, producing leaves less than half the size of the standard variety and reaching an overall height of only 3–5 cm. Its diminutive scale makes it ideal for nano and desktop aquaria, and its ability to be attached in precise locations on fine driftwood branches or between rocks allows exceptionally detailed, realistic hardscape compositions. Like all Anubias, it is shade-tolerant, grows without CO2, and must be attached to hardscape rather than buried in substrate to prevent rhizome rot. Growth is even slower than the standard nana, but plants are correspondingly long-lived and stable. Collector demand is high, with prime specimens commanding premium prices. Leaf surfaces age slowly and tend to attract algae-grazing shrimp, which graze the leaves clean and contribute to effortless long-term maintenance.
