About
Pothos 'Marble Queen' is a white-variegated cultivar of Epipremnum aureum, an aroid native to the Society Islands of French Polynesia. NC State Extension describes 'Marble Queen' as having green leaves and stems marbled with white. Where the common golden pothos has yellowish streaks, 'Marble Queen' is finely flecked with white to cream across the whole leaf. Similar white cultivars include 'Snow Queen' (even more white), 'N'Joy' (smaller leaves with bolder white patches) and 'Pearls and Jade', distinguished by how the variegation is distributed and by leaf size. According to its breeder, the Japanese cultivar 'Global Green' was selected from a sport of 'Marble Queen'. Because the white areas contain little chlorophyll, it grows a little more slowly than all-green pothos and loses variegation in poor light. It is otherwise as tough as the species and suits hanging pots or climbing supports. No record of its breeder or introduction was found. In Japan it is the standard white-variegated pothos, sold widely in garden centres and online.

Bright indirect light is best. It survives long periods in low light, but variegation fades in the dark. The white areas scorch easily, so avoid direct sun.
