A pothos whose whole leaves are bright yellow to lime green. There is no variegation; every glossy heart-shaped leaf glows with the same vivid colour.
About
Pothos 'Neon' is a foliage-colour cultivar of Epipremnum aureum, an aroid native to the Society Islands of French Polynesia; NC State Extension describes 'Neon' as having yellow leaves. The same list also has a separate 'Lime' with bright yellow-green leaves, and plants sold in Japan as 'Pothos Lime' are labelled inconsistently between the two names. Its unvariegated, bright foliage sets it apart from the yellow-streaked golden pothos and the white-marbled 'Marble Queen'. The real look-alike is Philodendron 'Lemon Lime', which also has bright yellow-green heart-shaped leaves. Pothos has grooved petioles and no conspicuous stipules on new growth, whereas philodendron has ungrooved petioles and obvious stipules, so check the base of the leaf stalk. The colour needs light and dulls in dim positions. No record of its breeder or introduction was found. In Japan it is a very widely sold staple, available in small pots, hanging baskets and hydroculture.

Bright indirect light. In dim spots the bright colour dulls towards green. The pale leaves burn easily, so avoid direct sun.
Watering
Let the mix dry between waterings, then water thoroughly. Constantly wet soil causes root rot and blackened leaf edges. Water less in winter when growth slows.

The name is easily confused with Philodendron 'Lemon Lime', so check the scientific name (Epipremnum aureum) when buying. Watch for mealybugs and scale. It contains insoluble calcium oxalates; if dogs or cats chew it they may suffer intense mouth irritation, drooling and vomiting. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.
