About

Drosera aliciae, Alice's sundew, is native to the Cape region of South Africa and is celebrated for producing one of the most perfectly symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing rosettes of any sundew species. Its spatula-shaped leaves are densely armed with red, glistening mucilaginous tentacles, and the plant self-seeds freely, making it easy to maintain and propagate. Along with D. capensis, it is routinely cited as one of the best beginner sundews, being robust, adaptable, and reliably ornamental. Cultivation requires nutrient-poor sphagnum or peat-perlite media, tray watering with pure or rainwater, and full direct sunlight to maximize tentacle coloration and rosette form. It tolerates temperatures down to about 5°C and is suitable for outdoor culture in temperate climates.
