About

Drosera paradoxa is a large member of the D. petiolaris complex (petiolaris group) native to the monsoonal tropical grasslands of the Northern Territory and northern Queensland, Australia. It is one of the largest members of the group, with long-petioled leaves reaching total heights of 20–50 cm, giving it an impressive stature among sundews. Like all members of the petiolaris group, it is adapted to the strongly seasonal Australian monsoon climate, growing actively during the wet season and reducing activity during the dry season. Cultivation requires consistently warm to hot temperatures (25–35°C), making greenhouse growing essential in most temperate regions. It needs nutrient-poor media, strong light, and a simulated dry season with reduced watering. Cold sensitivity is extreme.
