AdvancedNepenthes edwardsiana
A ultra-rare Kinabalu endemic with exquisitely toothed peristome of unmatched beauty.
About
Nepenthes edwardsiana is an ultra-rare highland species endemic to Mount Kinabalu and Mount Tambuyukon in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. It is celebrated above all for its extraordinarily beautiful peristome—an elaborately toothed, wide-ribbed collar considered by many enthusiasts to be the finest of any Nepenthes species. The pitchers are elongated and cylindrical, and upper pitchers in mature specimens display the full ornamental complexity of the peristome. As an extreme highland species, it requires exacting cultivation conditions: daytime temperatures of 18–23°C, night temperatures of 5–12°C, and consistently high humidity above 70%. The species is extremely rare in the wild and protected under CITES. It is universally regarded as one of the most desirable and challenging Nepenthes for advanced collectors.
