Nepenthes 'Miranda' is the name of a man-made hybrid pitcher plant. English Wikipedia gives its parentage as N. maxima × N. northiana (some authors consider it a more complex hybrid), while the International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS) name list records it as raised by Deroose in Belgium before 2003, possibly N. maxima × N. veitchii and possibly a later synonym of the old hybrid N. × tiveyi. The ICPS treats the name as not established because no description was published, so sources disagree on the parentage. The pitchers are pale green speckled with red-brown, with an almost vertical mouth and a dark reddish-brown peristome, and reach about 25-30 cm tall. With both highland and lowland ancestry it is treated as lowland, intermediate or even highland, and adapts to a wide range of temperatures. It is widely sold in Japan in hanging baskets as a large-pitchered hybrid, from mass-market shops to specialist nurseries. Many similar large hybrids exist and unlabelled plants are hard to identify by pitcher shape alone.
