AdvancedNepenthes truncata
With flat-cut leaf tips and huge pitchers, said to catch rats. A giant species.
About
Nepenthes truncata is a large carnivorous pitcher plant endemic to Mindanao in the Philippines, found at low to intermediate elevations in montane and sub-montane forests. Its name derives from the distinctively truncated (abruptly cut-off) leaf tips, a feature that gives the foliage an instantly recognizable appearance. The species produces massive pitchers—among the largest of any Philippine Nepenthes—with substantial volumes capable of trapping not only insects but occasionally small vertebrates. As an intermediate to lowland species, N. truncata tolerates a relatively wide temperature range of roughly 20–30°C, making it more accessible than many highland species. It requires sphagnum media, 60–80% humidity, and bright light. Its impressive pitcher size and comparative temperature tolerance have made it one of the most popular Philippine Nepenthes in cultivation.
