Euphorbia Bongolavensis
AdvancedEuphorbia bongolavensis
An endemic Madagascar species from Bongolava with flat caudex and thin branches.
About
Euphorbia bongolavensis is endemic to the Bongolava region of western Madagascar. It develops a flat caudex from which slender branches emerge, keeping a relatively compact overall form. Leaves are small and flowers are typical small yellowish-green euphorbia cyathia. Toxic white latex exudes from any damage. Growth is slow and the species is difficult to source, making it a genuine rarity. Full sun to bright indirect light and extremely porous soil are appropriate. Restrained watering during growth and complete winter drought above 10°C are correct. Its narrow endemism and distinctive flat caudex form make it a sought-after addition to specialist Malagasy euphorbia collections.
