About

Pelargonium appendiculatum grows in the Karoo region of South Africa. Branching stem-like tubers emerge above the soil surface and support spreading branches clothed in finely textured leaves, creating a bonsai-like form that is the plant's primary aesthetic appeal. Flowers are small, white to pale yellow. It is a winter grower, active from autumn through spring with summer dormancy. Growth is slow. During the growing season, full direct sun and extremely porous soil are appropriate. Restrained watering during growth and complete summer drought are the correct regime. Moderate cold tolerance but frost-sensitive. The refined bonsai-like architecture and compact size make it one of the more coveted tuberous Pelargonium species.
