Euphorbia Hedyotoides
IntermediateEuphorbia hedyotoides
A Madagascar Euphorbia with white trunk and small round leaves, bonsai-like appearance.
About
Euphorbia hedyotoides grows in dry forests of western Madagascar. Its most striking feature is the beautiful white to gray-white trunk from which fine branches bearing small, round leaves emerge—creating a bonsai-like appearance that is particularly striking when the leaves have dropped, leaving the pale trunk bare. Damaged tissue exudes toxic white latex. Growth is slow. Full sun to bright indirect light and extremely porous soil are appropriate. Moderate watering during growth and complete winter drought above 10°C are standard. The pale trunk beauty and refined bonsai-like structure make it a popular choice among collectors who prioritize architectural elegance in their Malagasy euphorbias.
