Phalaenopsis Sogo Yukidian is a hybrid (grex) between moth orchids. According to the Royal Horticultural Society's International Orchid Register, its seed parent is Phal. Yukimai and its pollen parent Phal. Taisuco Kochdian; the registrant and originator is Sogo, and it was registered on 23 April 1998. A grex name applies to every seedling from the same cross, so flower size and shape vary between individuals. A clone name such as 'V3' marks one selected individual, and plants sold under it are propagated from that individual, for example by tissue culture. 'V3' is known for large white flowers and is sold in Japan both as flowering pot plants and as young plants. Plants labelled only 'Sogo Yukidian' may be other seedlings or clones, so if you want 'V3' flowers, choose plants labelled with the clone name.
