About

Pachyphytum oviferum (Moonstones or Sugaralmond Plant) is a succulent native to Mexico, grown for its distinctive clusters of plump, egg-shaped leaves coated in a pastel powdery bloom. Leaf color ranges from pale grey-white to soft pink and lavender, with the most attractive tones developing under cool temperatures and bright sun. Plants are compact, typically 10–15 cm tall. Full sun is preferred to maintain leaf plumpness and promote coloration; insufficient light leads to stretched growth. Watering should be minimal and only when soil is fully dry, as excessive moisture can dislodge the powdery coating—which does not regenerate once lost—and cause root rot. Handling should be minimal to preserve the bloom. Cold tolerance extends to about 0°C. Leaf cuttings root readily.
