Petopentia natalensis is a climbing caudiciform in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae), native to KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape in South Africa. From an underground tuber it sends up slender stems that twine through other plants, and it is described as a climbing geophyte. In English it is called propeller vine. Its classification has shifted: first described as Pentopetia natalensis, it was later given its own single-species genus, Petopentia, in 1954. Some authors have since moved it to Ischnolepis (as Ischnolepis natalensis), the name used by English Wikipedia, while GBIF keeps Petopentia natalensis as the accepted name. In Japan potted plants with swollen tubers are sold online under the name Petopentia, and seed is also available. Detailed published information on its form and cultivation is scarce.
