Pachypodium Lamerei key facts

Growing Difficulty
Intermediate
Lifespan
20+ years
Size
50-200cm
Light & Placement
Give it full direct sun during the spring-to-autumn growing season. Growing it in a sunny outdoor spot produces a thick, firm trunk.
Watering
Plenty during growth. Dry to minimal in winter
Temperature & Overwintering
It must be kept above 10°C, so in Japan it is managed indoors over winter. After the leaves drop, keep it nearly dry until spring.
Soil & Repotting
Use a fast-draining succulent or cactus mix. Repot at the start of the growing season, wearing thick gloves because of the spines.
Propagation
Propagate from seed or by stem cuttings. For cuttings, let the cut surface dry well before inserting it into dry soil.
Notes
Sharp spines, caution. Winter leaf drop is normal
