Agave titanota 'Juggernaut'

'Juggernaut' is one of the representative named selections sold as Agave titanota. The name comes from a Hindu deity and in English means an unstoppable force. Hobbyist records describe thick leaves that become rounder as the plant grows, though it rarely forms a ball like Hakugei. A Japanese succulent encyclopedia, describing 'Black Panther', notes that its broad leaves resemble Juggernaut's. Crosses between Juggernaut and FO-076 (now treated as A. oteroi) also circulate, so plants are sometimes labelled 'pure-blood Juggernaut' to distinguish them. Indonesian plants such as COK and a plant called 'Kabigon' look very similar, so the name alone is not a reliable guide. No reliable source documents its raiser or history. Plants traded as titanota also include what has recently been described as A. oteroi, and the classification is not settled. In Japan it is sold by specialist nurseries, online shops and auctions; because pure-bred and hybrid plants are valued differently, confirm the parent plant's origin before buying.
