Euphorbia suzannae-marnierae is a small geophytic succulent spurge from the southern tip of Madagascar, between Andobolava (Toliara) and Amboasary. It grows in dry deciduous forest on rich soil in the shade of shrubs. It is named after Suzanne Marnier-Lapostolle, director of the Les Cèdres botanical garden in France. The caudex is grey-brown, spherical to oval, about 5 cm across and 4 cm high, and bears several branches 10-20 cm long and about 5 mm thick, mostly from the base, eventually forming a small clump about 25 cm tall. Leaves are thick and leathery, 3-5 cm long and up to 1 cm wide, green, brown or copper, with wavy margins curled upward, spirally arranged at the branch tips; their waviness varies with water and light. The pendulous, bell-shaped flowers are greenish-pink and self-fertile. It closely resembles E. ambovombensis but has a smaller caudex and thinner leaves. In Japan seedlings and divisions are sold through online shops and auction sites.
