About

Echeveria agavoides is a species native to San Luis Potosí and adjacent states in Mexico, named for its agave-like pointed leaf tips. The broad, glossy, bright green leaves form a substantial rosette with conspicuous red-to-dark-red tip coloration that intensifies under strong sun and cool temperatures. Mature rosettes reach 10–20 cm across, larger than many Echeveria species. As a robust wild species, it is more tolerant of cultural variation than many cultivars and has been extensively used as a parent in hybridization, with numerous named selections such as 'Ebony' and 'Red Edge' selected for enhanced tip coloration. Standard Echeveria care applies: full sun, well-draining soil, and conservative watering. Cold tolerance is approximately 3–5°C. Propagation by leaf cuttings or offsets is straightforward.
